• About Justice B S Indrakala

    A pioneer in the court system of Karnataka, India, Justice B. S. Indrakala worked as a lawyer for 6 years under the guidance of Senior Advocate Mr. T. V. Krishna Rao. After more than a decade working within the City Civil Court, and High Court of Karnataka, she received an appointment as a district judge, making her the second female district judge in the Karnataka judiciary. Justice Bangalore Shamachar (B. S.) Indrakala later became the third female judge appointed to the High Court of Karnataka.

    Before retiring from public service in 2019, Judge B.S. Indrakala served as president of the State Consumers Dispute Redressal Commission. Her notable rulings in this position include a case against the State Bank of India, where she required the bank to compensate a customer for damages for deficiency in service in the payment of a vehicle’s insurance premium. In addition to addressing consumer disputes across 32 district forums, she advocated for gender equity.

    In addition to her service as a lawyer and judge, B.S. Indrakala worked as a Public Pleader on a member of various public sector boards.
